ANNIE'S STORY
Annie was raised in a Republican household and began her state career under Governor Mike Castle, then supported several Democratic administrations as an Independent as the landscape shifted. She became a Democrat during the first Trump administration — a choice she made deliberately. Annie, as a librarian and through lived experience, understands both parties' traditional values and she's running for every Delawarean – and public servant – who wants government to actually work.
She raised her sons through schools in Kent County, first the Capital School District, Caesar Rodney School District, Polytech, and Positive Outcomes Charter School, and knows firsthand what it means to support a child with a learning disability and learning differences inside a system that isn't built for individual needs.
Today, Annie lives in District 34 with her family. Since COVID, she has had three generations living under one roof. She has served as PTA/PTO President at several of the schools, and served as a VP of the Delaware PTA to support parent advocacy locally and statewide.
A CAREER OF PUBLIC SERVICE
Annie Norman has been part of Delaware since she was a teenager, when her family first bought property here in Sussex County. She moved to Kent County in 1982 and joined state service in 1985 — beginning what has become four decades of continuous public service as a Delaware librarian.
For 24 years, she served as Delaware's State Librarian. She is perhaps best known for building the statewide Delaware Library Catalog, which now connects more than 80 libraries and puts millions of books within reach of any Delawarean through their local library — an example of an effective, efficient government service.
